Broadmoor Legacy Series By Tracie Peterson & Judith Miller

A Daughter's Inheritance (Book 1)

A Daughter's Inheritance (Broadmoor Legacy Series #1) by Tracie Peterson: Book Cover
Overview:
Lose Yourself in the History, Opulence, and Elegance of the Thousand Islands Cousins Amanda, Sophie, and Fanny Broadmoor are as close as sisters, but when their grandfather dies, the terms of his will just might destroy their bond. Seventeen-year-old Fanny has never put much stock in the conventions of society. In fact, she has given her heart to Michael, the family boat-keeper. But when she receives a surprising inheritance, she discovers just how oppressive society can be... and that she may be trusting the wrong people. Dare she follow her heart and risk going against her family? What if she loses everything she's ever known? It all comes down to one choice: What does Fanny Broadmoor want her legacy to be?

My Review:
I really liked this book. The characters are very one sided and predictable, but it follows a good story line. I like how the villain of the story is a family member who knows that what he is doing (trying to steal his nieces inheritance) is wrong but has convinced himself that he has been wronged and the money is truly his. The love story is predictable, but you still are rooting for them to get back together.

An Unexpected Love (Book 2)

An Unexpected Love by Tracie Peterson: NOOK Book Cover
 Overview:
During a trip to England, Sophie Broadmoor falls head over heels for Wesley Hedrick, a wealthy widower who promises her the world. But Sophie soon learns that Wesley's promises are nothing but words and finds herself in a very compromising situation. Why does it have to be Paul Medford, the stringent young minister who works with her father, who shows up during her worst moment? Paul is full of promises, too, and it's clear that he has feelings for Sophie. But after all she's been through, can she trust him?

My Review:
Humm.. I don't like Sophie. She is a one dimensional character that I can not relate to. She is a self-centered, live in the moment, and wanting everyone's attention character who I don't think anyone would like in real life, yet most people seem to like her (except when she is giving the family a bad rep with her behavior). She makes a mistake and gets prego... really?! She didn't think this would happen? Predictable plot!!!! Then out of the blue a preacher wants to marry her? Not realistic.
All in all, an ok book. Not thrilled, but the story is interesting.

A Surrendered Heart (Book 3)

A Surrendered Heart (Broadmoor Legacy Series #3) by Tracie Peterson: Book Cover
Overview:
Escape into the history, opulence, and elegance of the Thousand Islands.
When cholera strikes Rochester, New York, in the spring of 1899, the members of the Broadmoor family flee to their castle home in the Thousand Islands. But Amanda Broadmoor, who has always held a special compassion for the less fortunate, resolves to remain in Rochester with Dr. Blake Carstead, working to help control the spread of the dreaded disease.
However, much more than Amanda's health hangs in the balance. Mishandling of the family fortune threatens to leave the Broadmoor family penniless--and even willing to sacrifice Amanda's future. Will she be forced to marry a man she disdains in order to save the Broadmoor legacy?
My Review:
PREDICTABLE but nice. This book shows that all's well that ends well. A catastrophe is averted by the accidental death of a very bad man, but I don't think that in real life the terrible marriage that was averted would have ever happened. It was asking too much for me to believe that Amanda (the main character in this book) would ever agree to marring a man who completely upfront with her that she would be physically and sexually abused in their marriage. Especially since the authors told us several times that she was a very independent woman.
Finally the couple from the first book get together, but it was anticlimactic considering we waited 2 books for them to get together and he just shows up at a 4th of July picnic. One minute we don't know when or if he is coming home and then WHAM he is home!
Overall, good, but predictable.
